Kat Kong - Dav Pilkey

This was absurdly fun to read aloud. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it - it's cheesy but in a clever way that pokes fun at its own cheese.

The kiddos thought it was great fun - the 'illustrations' are photographs of the author's kitty and pet rodents with some mixed media art.

We decided as a group to knock off a star, because we have no idea what happened to Rosie, the heroine of the story. Actually, my first grader decided this and I thought he was astute and agreed.

Good book for pre-school to young school age. Kat Kong does bite the dust at the end (it is the King Kong story after all), so if your younger set isn't used to that kind of thing, there ya go.
